Must-See for Both Tourists and Locals
With some of the most interesting history, San Francisco has to offer, Alcatraz is a must-see for both tourists and locals. Alcatraz is located 1.25 miles off the San Francisco coast and was once the highest-security prison in the United States, housing famous criminals like Al Capone. Now, it is a historic monument frozen in time, which offers a glimpse into what life was like for these criminals in the mid-1900’s. The island can be accessed through Alcatraz Cruises, but make sure to reserve early as the tours fill up. Once on the island, you’ll receive an audio tour and be guided through some of the most notorious moments of San Francisco history.
Legacy Ambassador
I have been trail running in the Bay Area for most of my life, growing up in the East Bay at the foothills of Mt. Diablo. After being a mostly short and mid-distance runner my whole life, I recently turned to marathon training. I’m hoping to tackle the San Francisco Marathon, among others, in 2019. In the meantime, training and competing in 10Ks and half marathon races take up most of my time.
