Da Nico is a wonderful, authentic Italian restaurant where I’ve eaten several times until I’m stuffed. Located on Mulberry Street which runs through the heart of Little Italy, the back sky-lit room (which you can’t see from the front) is a hidden gem.

The food is incredible, the ambiance is so New York, and you will be dining with locals and perhaps some celebrities, too. My family literally ran into Rudy Guliani and his entourage back in his saner days when he was New York’s mayor.

That’s about as good of an endorsement as is possible, with Da Nico being a go-to spot for a discerning Italian-American. Back then Rudy was a pretty nice guy (2000), posing for photos and even giving out VIP tickets to the Yankees post-World Series victory VIP ceremony at City Hall.

A Hidden Gem that I've Loved for Years

      5/ 5

Da Nico is a wonderful Italian restaurant which I have loved for many years. Located in the heart of Little Italy, the back room (which you can’t see from the front) is a hidden gem. The food is incredible, the ambiance so New York, and you will be dining with locals and perhaps some celebrities, too. My family ran into Rudy Guliani and his entourage a few years ago, so you know that the food has to be special. And back then he was actually a pretty nice guy, taking photos with us and being almost a regular guy.
