One of the Most Entertaining Establishments in NYC
Even though it’s designed for tourists, Ellen’s Stardust Diner is still lots of fun for anyone who hasn’t been there before. It’s the home of the singing waitstaff, and the kids will find it highly entertaining. The performances are often quite good, as many of the servers are aspiring professional performers who need to have an income while they pursue their passion. The place is open from early morning until midnight, serving all-day breakfast and creative diner food. Be forewarned, though, this place isn’t on my “inexpensive” list. A family of four can easily spend $100 with tip, as some sandwiches are priced above $20, and even an omelette, though large, can run in the $15+ range. But portions are large and you’ll leave fully satiated. Menu: American diner serving breakfast anytime, sandwiches, burgers, comfort food entrees, salads and milk shakes galore!
Legacy & Super Ambassador
A native of Queens, I currently reside in Minneapolis. I ran the Twin Cities Marathon twice, as well as New York and Dublin. Over the years, I completed many half-marathons, as well as 10K races.
While now a member of the “senior circuit” with my distance running days behind me, I have countless memories of my daily runs in Chicago, continuing in Oakland with beautiful Lake Merritt across the street from my apartment, and on the countless trails around the lakes and in the woods of Minnesota.
My biggest fan, my daughter Sarah, died of cancer in 2013 at the age of 24. My primary charity focus is the annual scholarship fund set up in her memory at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. Scholarship details are available at www.evcg.org.
