Quick and Freshly Prepared Food
One of my favorites for a quick breakfast or lunch with good coffee is the Europa Cafe. A quick counter service operation with several location around Manhattan. For breakfast there are pastries as well as many dishes individually prepared, and at lunch time their plethora of pre-made sandwiches is hard to believe. Looking for a salad, Europa Cafe is one of many operations around town makes your salad in front of your eyes. Just pick out the type of lettuce you want and the size bowl, and they’ll add a seemingly limitless number of items to it for a pretty reasonable charge. It’s all based on weight, so there are no surprises when you get ready to pay. My suggestion is grab a beverage, a table, and then go back for food, as these places tend to get crowded at peak times. But they are well worth it, and offer an amazing variety of food options. Some Manhattan locations include 515 Madison, between 53rd and 54th Streets; 1177 6th Avenue, between 45th and 46th Streets; 3 Times Square, on 7th Avenue between 31st and 32nd Streets; and at 2 Park Avenue, between 32nd and 33rd Streets.
Legacy & Super Ambassador
A native of Queens, I currently reside in Minneapolis. I ran the Twin Cities Marathon twice, as well as New York and Dublin. Over the years, I completed many half-marathons, as well as 10K races.
While now a member of the “senior circuit” with my distance running days behind me, I have countless memories of my daily runs in Chicago, continuing in Oakland with beautiful Lake Merritt across the street from my apartment, and on the countless trails around the lakes and in the woods of Minnesota.
My biggest fan, my daughter Sarah, died of cancer in 2013 at the age of 24. My primary charity focus is the annual scholarship fund set up in her memory at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. Scholarship details are available at www.evcg.org.
