Since 1928, the Hotel Beacon has been a hidden gem on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Upon opening, the hotel installed an airway directional beacon on the roof of the 24-story “skyscraper,” something which was very new at the time. This beacon was 5 feet in diameter and produced 1.2 billion candles of power.

Today, the beaux-arts design remains, and the historic Beacon Theater is still next door. All 270 rooms and suites come with classic furnishings, plus a fully equipped kitchenette. There are numerous grocery stores and delis in the neighborhood, making it very easy to stock up and save money during your stay in New York. Rooms include free WiFi, a daily New York Times, and complimentary use of the 24/7 fitness center.

If you’re staying for more than a couple of days, you may also choose to utilize the large in-house self-service laundry facilities.
