Where

From the Washington Monument, you can walk over to the Lincoln Memorial, where you’ll find a 19-foot-tall statue of a sitting Abraham Lincoln positioned staring out from the middle of a chamber constructed with 36 columns, each representing a different state in the union at the time of Lincoln’s death.

The structure is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is free to experience. One of the best ways to explore this and other monuments all together is to find a hop-on-hop-off bus tour, which will take you around to all of the major monuments.
