Some of the objects in the collection include photography, clothing, literature, military artifacts, education artifacts, instruments, political artifacts, and collections pertaining to religious groups, segregation and slavery. There are changing exhibits on topics like the Civil Rights Movement, notable African American figures, African American involvement in the military, and the role of music in African American culture and history.
